Behind this booming growth of the company was a complete technocrat who believed in the philosophy of “Progress through Knowledge”. He founded Structwel inn 18th April 1967 and through his exceptional work touched the lives of thousands of people in and outside the Engineering Fraternity globally.
With his concrete and unceasing belief in sharing knowledge for the greater good, he went on to publish four books namely.
Apart from the above, he also published over 100 papers at various national and international conferences. Some of the Repair Techniques developed by him, a few decades back still serve as Fundamental Guidelines to the current generations of Repair Engineers.
He relentlessly worked towards making Structwel a ‘knowledge based’ organization and paved a strong foundation of a learning culture within the organization. His passion for learning and growth reflects in the learning path he carved for himself. He held many esteemed degrees from various prestigious institutes of India and abroad; including B.E. Civil (Pune, 1962), F.I.STRUCT.E (U.K.), F.I.E. (India), F.A.C.I. (USA) & F.C.S.C.E. (Canada). He was the first few to introduce ‘Forensic Engineering’ to the Indian Engineers. He conducted numerous lectures in many engineering colleges in India and abroad to spread the knowledge on this, then a lesser-known concept.
He was bestowed upon numerous awards; some of them are All India Senior Structural Design Competitions. Silver Medals in 1966 and 1967, ACI Chapter activity Award (USA) in 1983, Association of Consulting Engineers (India) Award in 1990, Special Recognition Award for Leadership Role in the Concrete Industry in India by CANMET / ACI in 1994, Vishveshvaraiya Construction Excellence Award in category of Engineer of the Year by ICMR in 2003, ACI, USA awarded ACI Honorary Membership in 2004.
His strong virtues of righteousness and integrity have been deeply imbibed into the culture of Structwel.
He left for his heavenly abode on 08th March 2008.
Mr. Chetan R Raikar, a passionate Heritage Conservationist, has paved a strong path of success for Structwel under his extraordinarily able leadership.
He was instrumental in establishing ‘Structwel Lab’, the first Construction Material Testing Laboratory in private sector in India; which received R&D status by Government of India soon after its inception.
With his strategic leadership, he steered the expansion of Structwel in domestic and international markets. His passion for structural repairs and heritage conservation reflects splendidly in his conservation work of numerous historical and heritage structures; including a few world heritage sites. He has been conferred with many national and international awards including American Concrete Institute (ACI) Young Member Award, Maharashtracha Kohinoor Award and CIDC Industry Captain Award to name a few.
He is appointed on several Government & Statutory committees & is a well-known name in academics-industry interaction forum. He is keenly interested in improving the quality of education, at the Degree & PG level, in Civil engineering colleges and is actively involved in reformation of curriculum of many engineering colleges.
He is a member of several renowned bodies such as Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC), India Chapter of American Concrete Institute, Institution of Engineering, Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers, Indian Heritage Society, Indian Society of Structural Engineers, Practicing Engineers Architects & Town Planners Association (PEATA), International Association of Bridge Management System etc.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Conservation from Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK and a B.E degree from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, India.
Mr. Kaustubh R Raikar spearheads a highly competent and integrated team of Architects, Project Managers and Mechanical, Electrical & Structural Engineers. He has played a pivotal role in building & developing this cohesive team of professionals who determinately work towards achieving engineering excellence for every single project.
He comes with almost 2 decades of rich experience in project management, detailed design and planning of structures across varied industries; having accomplished numerous Industrial, Commercial and Residential projects. He also brings with him sturdy experience of several other facets of engineering such as Structural Designs, Condition Assessment and Repairs & Restorations.
He has large number of Industrial, Commercial and Residential Projects to his credit for turnkey design and project management. He has carried out structural designs and peer reviews for vast number of projects of various magnitudes. He has successfully restored and repaired number of bridges in India. He has contributed to the stability assessment, repairs and condition assessment of 100+ structures.
Besides being an exceptional engineer, he is an excellent people leader. He has been leading HR initiatives in the company and has introduced HR practices that have proven beneficial for the employees and the company both.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia University, USA and a B.E degree from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, India.
Mr. Jayant Kadam is a Technical Director and heads the Projects Team comprising of Civil Engineers including Construction Specialist, Project Managers and Repairs & Restoration Engineers.
His incomparable technical expertise together with his other valuable traits of honesty & integrity has helped the organization to excel and achieve new milestones for the past 26 years. He holds expertise in diverse fields of civil engineering, encompassing vast experience in Conservation of Heritage structures, Civil & Structural Engineering, Project Management Consultancy, Material Testing, Tourism Planning and Development, Third Party Quality Audit, Forensic Engineering, Investigation, Repairs and Rehabilitation.
He has played a vital role in establishing Structwel as a pioneer in the field of restoration and repairs. Under his technical guidance, the team has successfully conducted more than 5000 Structural Audit and Investigations of several Commercial, Residential and Industrial Structures for many esteemed clients; including some of the world’s largest Petrochemical, Cement and Power plants.
He has been working steadily on passing on his technical knowledge to the new generations of engineers at Structwel; thus, helping the young engineers to thrive and grow professionally.
He holds a B.E Civil degree from Government College of Engineering, Karad, Maharashtra.
